ClearCheck

Know your wait time before you fly.

ClearCheck helps safety-sensitive workers — pilots, flight attendants, commercial drivers, and train conductors — decide when it's safe to be on duty after taking an over-the-counter medication or supplement. Scan a barcode, photograph a Drug Facts label, or search by name; ClearCheck resolves the product to its active ingredients (never the brand name alone) and returns a RED / YELLOW / UNKNOWN / GREEN classification.

How it works

1. Identify — scan a UPC barcode, photograph a Drug Facts label, or search by name.
2. Resolve — the product is mapped to its active ingredients and dosing interval.
3. Verdict — RED, YELLOW (with a computed wait time), UNKNOWN (not yet assessed), or GREEN, with a per-ingredient breakdown.
4. Log — tap "I took this at [time]" to log the dose. ClearCheck shows a live countdown to your computed wait time and schedules a local notification for when it closes.

Only Pilot gets a computed wait time

The FAA publishes a numeric rule of thumb — 5× the labeled dosing interval, with known FAA-specific overrides (diphenhydramine: 60 hours) — that ClearCheck implements directly and shows the arithmetic for. Flight Attendant, Commercial Driver (FMCSA), and Train Conductor (FRA) get the ingredient classification and a citation to the regulation that actually governs their role, with no fabricated wait time where none is published. Pick your role in Settings; it defaults to unselected, the most conservative state.

Verdicts, explained

• RED Do not use while on duty — a sedating ingredient or an impairment warning on the label.
• YELLOW Wait required, with the computed wait time shown.
• UNKNOWN Not yet assessed. Most of the openFDA catalogue lands here — an honest gap, not a green light.
• GREEN Assessed, no wait applies.

Offline and private by design

The medication database ships bundled with the app, so ClearCheck is fully usable with no signal in a hangar or FBO; an optional sync widens coverage when you have one. Dose logs, label photos, and diagnostics stay on your device — there is no account. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what that means on each platform.

What ClearCheck is not

ClearCheck is not medical or regulatory clearance, and it never claims to be. If you're sick enough to need medication, the underlying condition — not just the drug — may be what keeps you off duty, independent of any computed wait time.
